Avalanche announce preseason schedule for 2026-27 season

Colorado Avalanche hockey will be back before you know it.

And while we’re still waiting on the team’s 2026-27 regular season schedule, which will be 84 games for the first time in NHL history, the preseason schedule was revealed on Monday.

The Avalanche will face the Winnipeg Jets twice and the Utah Mammoth twice, with one home game against each team and one on the road.

The Avalanche will face Utah at home on Sept. 20 then take a flight for a game in Winnipeg on Sept. 21. Then, it’s two games on Friday and Saturday the 25th and 26th against the Jets and Mammoth.

We’ll see how much Colorado’s stars skate in the preseason, but it wouldn’t be a shock to see Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Gabriel Landeskog, etc. in only one or none of these games.

It looked like this past season would be the fourth time winning the Stanley Cup in franchise history after the Avalanche got off to an 8-1 start in the playoffs. But it all came crashing down in a shocking sweep by the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final.

It will be a grind for the Avs to get back to that spot, with preseason and then a longer regular season before the same opportunity in the postseason awaits.

But at least we know when the journey begins — hockey returns in fewer than three months.
