Kids From PSD Are Getting A Snow Day Tomorrow…Not To Sound Old, But…
Some very lucky kids are getting a snow day tomorrow in the PSD school district. Parents were notified on Tuesday night.
Not to sound old, but I feel like we never had snow days. I actually grew up in Ault, Colorado, and I remember the snow drifts would be as tall as six feet. Yeah. I sound old. The PSD school district hasn't had a snow day for the past two years.
But back to my old lady story, because I do have a point to make. My child is in the PSD school district, and she has had more random days off than I'm pretty sure I got in all of my hours in school. Seriously, K-12.
To be fair, local meteorologists are saying the heavy snow won't be here until tomorrow morning. And I just might wake up in a winter wonderland, but something tells me we won't have six-foot snow drifts. Back in the years between 1990 and 1998, we had a dry spell of random school days off.
During the years between 1990 and 1998, we were expected to brave some pretty serious storms. Snow, sleet, hurricane winds, monsoon rain, escaped murderer. I distinctly remember the school districts didn't really cut us any slack.
I can also remember the sting my fingers felt from the twenty-minute recess after lunch. There was also no inside recess. And we were poor, so I didn't have mittens. Pause for sympathy.
Again, I may very well be wrong. We may just get dumped on tonight. But, unless the snowdrifts are as tall as six feet, I will remain old and angry.
Thanks for your time.
