Many people in Colorado have pets, specifically dogs. Most consider their dogs a part of the family and even consider them their children. Some can't leave the house without their dogs, and others leave them at home to keep everything safe. Some leave them in the backyard, some leave them in the house, and others let them have even their own room. For many of us, music is relaxing, and when we leave our dogs at home alone, sometimes music is left on for them to listen to. Are you someone who leaves music on for your dog, and if you have a playlist, what is your dog listening to in Colorado?

Most people enjoy listening to music, and some let their dogs listen to it as well. According to a recent study on metlifepetinsurance.com, 90% of people play music around or for their dogs, and 14% have even created them a playlist. For those who are musically talented, 63% sing for their dogs, and 27% have even made up an original song for their dogs. The funny part is that 36% of dogs don't react to the singing or music, but 28% calm down or fall asleep, 23% perk up and become more alert, and 22% wag their tail and seem excited. For those curious, 7% will leave the room. Only 13% of pet owners will play specific music for their dogs, while 87% play what they prefer to listen to.

Sadly, country music is not the go-to genre for dogs, as 26% are listening to rock, 18% are listening to pop, and 12% are listening to hip-hop or rap. The most popular song played for dogs, according to the study, is 'Yellow' by Coldplay, with the second most popular song being 'Creep' by Radiohead, and the third most popular being 'Linger' by The Cranberries. The most popular artist or group played for dogs is Taylor Swift, with Coldplay being second, and Fleetwood Mac rounding out the top three. If you are planning on making your dog a playlist to listen to while you are gone, while they sleep, or to play around the house, these are apparently the artists and songs you should start with.

This doesn't mean you have to make your dog a playlist or start playing them music, but perhaps it is worth trying to see how they react. If they enjoy it, make them a playlist, but if not, it might be best to let them enjoy silence.
