Don't Fall For This Tax Phone Scam in Colorado
I recently received a call from a number that pretended to be the IRS, stating there was a problem with my tax filing. They needed more information and said that if I didn't correct it, my taxes wouldn't be filed properly. The call was extremely convincing, except for the part where my taxes had been filed months ago, and my refund had already been issued to my bank account. Had I not already filed my taxes and seen my refund, it would have been easy to fall for this scam. If it was that convincing that it had me second-guessing if I did something wrong, how would others react if they recently finished their taxes or are currently working on them in the closing hours? Sadly, scams like this happen each year, and far too many fall for them.
