Small Colorado Town Looks to Revitalize With Incentives
If you've ever dreamt of small town living, perhaps being a local business owner with a quirky little shop in a quirky little town, Ordway, Colorado might be calling you.
The town is selling off historic buildings for as little as $3,500 to attract some entrepreneurial types to come boost their city back to a new set of glory days.
Only about 1,200 people live in Ordway, which is located in Southeast Colorado, about 50 miles from Pueblo. The town has been in decline for a number of years, but the mayor came up with the idea to revitalize the town, with small investments for the building itself, leaving the new owner with whatever capital they need to start an actual business after renovations.
The only catch is once you purchase a building, you have three years to complete the renovations or you have to turn it back over to the city.

They've already sold one of the historic buildings for $3,500 - the old corner pharmacy - and the new owners are planning to turn it into a laundromat, an arcade and a place you can get a dirty soda. The owners are determined to turn it into a gathering spot for people around the community and especially the kids.
Ordway is located in Crowley County, with the nearest interstate being I-25 and about 50 miles away. So to live there you have to be really committed to the idea of small town living. But if you're looking for a change of scenery and to take part in rebuilding a town, this could be your chance!
