Popular St. Vrain Christmas Walk Makes Major Change for 2026
Across Colorado, every year, there are scores of Christmas events that take place. Some are large, like the Parade of Lights in Denver; some are smaller, for example, a beloved neighborhood celebration of the season.
Fun Christmas Event in Firestone Becomes Victim of Its Own Success
The St. Vrain Christmas Walk, which began in/around 2015, started as a small neighborhood effort: houses along a route in a neighborhood within St. Vrain Ranch in Firestone would "deck out" their backyards, and folks would walk the neighborhood path to enjoy. The "Christmas Walk" continued to grow over the years.
By 2024, the event, not organized by the HOA, needed insurance and permits; the signage was in poor condition, squirrels had chewed through lighting that had been collected over the years, there were higher costs for hot chocolate and other supplies, and key members of the "committee" had moved away. The 2025 event didn't happen, as they decided they needed a year off to "regroup."
After Nearly 10 Years of Cheer and Celebration, Is the Walk Officially Over?
But as the 2026 holiday season approached, in early October of 2026, the organizers announced on the event's Facebook page that, while several community members had offered to help with lighting, setups, and fundraising, the private yards that served as our event hubs were no longer available. The hubs were homes/back patios where people could stop for hot cocoa, hold little performances, and maybe meet Santa.
After nine wonderful years, we have made the difficult decision to permanently end the official St. Vrain Christmas Walk activities. While neighbors along the path are still welcome to decorate their yards on their own, there will no longer be organized event activities.
UPDATE: Jeanne Torres, from the St. Vrain Ranch community has stepped up to continue with path decorations. She is looking for additional volunteers and can be reached at 303-875-4652.
So, while the activities and such won't be happening, you may still see some great Christmas displays. Maybe one of the neighbors will set up a hot cooca stand, you never know.
The path of lighted yards is between Sage Avenue and Saddleback Avenue within the St. Vrain Ranch neighborhood.
In 2023, we were able to take it all in for the first time:
