If You Love Old Video Games You Need to Get to Fort Collins on September 19

On September 19, 2026, folks around Northern Colorado, young and old, can gather in Fort Collins to celebrate those old video games we once loved. Heck, we can even play those old games.

When is the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery's 'Vintage Video Games Day'?

I really think that I'll be making plans to be at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery on Saturday, September 19, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to go back in time and "get my nerd on." I can't recall the last time I was there, so this is a great reason to step through their doors once again.

What Game Will Be Featured at 'Vintage Video Games Day'?

Fort Collins Museum of Discovery (FoCo MOD) says that they'll have multiple stations where we can interact with actual consoles and games dating back to the early 1980s; they used 'Super Mario: Sunshine' on the Nintendo Cube from 2002 to give you an idea. 2002 was almost a quarter of a century ago; I guess that does make one feel "vintage" if they played that game.

I'm looking forward to seeing a really old Atari setup from my youth, maybe 'Doom' on a Sega Saturn from my 20s, and going way back to playing some weird PC game that uses an old CRT TV monitor. I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Guitar Hero" there, either, in the museum's Local History Archive (where the event will take place).

How Much is the 'Vintage Video Games Day' at FoCo MOD?

One part of the free four-hour event that sounds very fun and interesting is that we'll be able to learn about the arcades and history of gaming in The Choice City. They'll probably bring up how there was once a Pinball Jones in Campus West and the Jolly Time arcade at the mall. I wonder what other old arcades Fort Collins had?
