Former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II left Sunday’s Denver Broncos game against the San Francisco 49ers after suffering what appeared to be a non-contact injury to his right ankle.

Surtain was not carted off, leaving the field slowly with the help of the Broncos staff.

He was replaced by former first round pick and 2024 Jim Thorpe winner at Texas for best college defensive back Jahdae Barron.

The game went to halftime quickly after the play where Surtain went down.

The Broncos and 49ers are tied at 3 each at the break.
