Ten-Year-Old Greeley Boy Detained After Threatening His Family With a Knife

This story disturbed me a great deal. Greeley police had no choice but to take a 10-year-old boy into custody after he threatened to stab members of his family with a knife. The Greeley Tribune reports the incident happened Sunday evening in the 1200 block of 26th Avenue.

The boy reportedly told officers that he wasn’t going down without a fight and they would have to "shoot and kill him". One officer was able to distract him long enough for a second officer to grab his arm and secure the knife. The boy was taken into custody without anyone being injured.

He was transported to NCMC for evaluation and treatment. I hope this kid gets the help he needs. He could possibly face charges as a juvenile.
