Loveland Celebrity to Attempt to Create New Guinness World Record [Again]
While Loveland is widely known for its annual Valentine Remailing Program and its sculptures, it's also becoming known for having a Colorado sports celebrity who loves to set Guinness Word Records for outdoor/backyard games.
Who Is Going to Attempt a New Guinness World Record?
Luke Lorick, who lives in Loveland, has a regular job in the insurance industry; he also has a job a being a tailgating enthusiast. He created National Tailgating Day (the first Saturday of September, annually) and has been on national broadcasts talking about tailgating and demonstrating new tailgating games and items.
What is the Record Luke Lorick Will be Creating in Loveland?
In February of 2026, Lorick submitted to Guinness that he'd like to create/set the record for "Longest Ladder Golf Shot." In May of 2026, he received word that Guinness had agreed to "sanction" the attempt, which will be 100 feet.

It was in the summer of 2022, that Lorick set the Guinness World Record for "Longest Backwards Cornhole Shot" in Downtown Loveland. I was there on-hand for the event; it was a fun morning. In September of 2023, he set the record for "Longest Blindfolded Cornhole Shot" at 46 feet, 3 inches.
When Will the "Longest Ladder Golf Shot" Attempt be Made?
Lorick is planning on doing the attempt at the Loveland High School practice field on July 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. My father used to walk over to that field when we lived nearby, to practice place kicking; he did not end up setting any records.
