Nuggets have fifth best NBA title odds entering next season

The Denver Nuggets and the rest of the world watched the New York Knicks win it all on Saturday night.

It was the first time since 1973 the Knicks had taken the title and the eighth unique champion in a row for the NBA.

New York rallied to close out the San Antonio Spurs in five games. The Knicks proved to be the more clutch team as the moment was too big for the Spurs time and time again throughout the series.

And with this season wrapped up, the focus has already shifted to next year for fanbases across the country.

The oddsmakers have released NBA title odds for the 2026-27 season and one popular site has the Nuggets at 28-1 to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

The favorites are the Spurs (2.5-1), Thunder (2.6-1), Celtics (5.5-1) and Knicks (6.5-1). After that it’s a big drop with Denver and Indiana at 28-1. The Timberwolves, Lakers, Pistons and Cavaliers are all 30-1.

So the Nuggets are definitely in the conversation, but it’s clear San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Boston and New York have separated themselves from the pack. At least in the eyes of the oddsmakers.

It will be a fascinating offseason in Denver after team owner Josh Kroenke said the franchise might look to trade anyone but Nikola Jokic. The three-time MVP, who could have three more of those awards, is untouchable. But after a shocking first-round loss to Minnesota — almost anything is on the table.

Nuggets fans have gotten used to a core that involves Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon, but we’ll see if either of those guys are on the move. Perhaps Cam Johnson or Christian Braun could be traded as well.

Executives Ben Tenzer and Jonathan Wallace, along with Kroenke, have to figure that out.

But it’s clear that having Jokic keeps the Nuggets in contender status. Now the roster around him must improve for Denver to claim a second title with one of the best basketball players of all-time.
